Ernest J. (Junior) Clark, 81, of Buchanan, Va., died on Sunday, March
28, 2010, at his home.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Willie Eva Clark; brothers,
Roy and Melvin; sisters, Hazel, Ruby, Pauline, and Elizabeth.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Elsie Hodges Clark; daughters, Phyllis
C. Clodfelter and husband, Michael, of Kernersville, N.C., Teresa C. Lester
and husband, Ronnie, of Eagle Rock, Va.; five grandchildren, Ryan Clodfelter,
Brandon Lester, David Clodfelter, Amber Lester and Chase Lester; brother,
Junior was retired from Roanoke Cement Company. He held various jobs throughout
the years including working for James Lees Plant in Glasgow, the Chevrolet
dealership in Buchanan, operating a Garbage service, owning and operating
a lumber business and playing baseball for several minor leagues including
the Cincinnati Reds.
He received his 60 year pin and lifetime membership from the Buchanan
Vol. Fire Department and served on the Buchanan Volunteer Rescue Squad
for many years.
He loved helping people and spent many years continuing to help with the
annual Buchanan Fireman's Carnival where he was known for his famous 4th
of July Barbecue Chicken.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved being in the woods hunting
with his friends. Junior also loved gardening and making sure he planted
enough to share.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2010, in the
Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan.
