Roger A. Charette 1932 - 2011 SOUTH HADLEY - Roger A. Charette, 78, of Main St. died peacefully at home on Friday March 4, 2011. He was born in South Hadley. He was the son of the late Edwin and Dolores (Bachand) Charette. Roger worked for the Providence Ministries at the Loreto House.

He was a member of the K of C Council 4044. He enjoyed golf, playing cribbage and pitch, coaching softball, calling French square dancing.

Roger was a south paw pitcher for the South Hadley High School, Woodlawn AC, and the Fairview Boys club. At age 19 he went to Baseball School in St. Augustine, Florida. He played minor league baseball for the Harlan Smokies, in Jessup, Georgia.

Roger is survived by his wife, Irene (Theroux) Charette, his children, Wayne Roger Charette of South Hadley, Cynthia Squires and her husband Randy of Chicopee, Brian Charette, of Holyoke and Mark Charette of South Hadley, his grandchildren, Jacob and Kristin, his brother, Raymond Charette and his wife Helen of Philadelphia, Rita Chrobak and Laura Gauthier and her husband Don all of South Hadley, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral for Roger will be held on Tuesday morning at 9 am from the Ryder Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in St. Patricks Church with his burial in Notre Dame Cemetery all in South Hadley.

Calling hours for Roger will be held on Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
