Albert "Big Al" Casino, 78, of Palm Desert, passed away peacefully at home on May 11, 2012. He was a devoted husband, father, and "Boppi."

Al was pre-deceased by his wife of 49 years, Marilu; his parents, Peter & Lena; and brothers Rocky, Peter; and sister Ruby.

He is survived by his wife of three years, Evelyn; his daughters Kerri (Robert) Havens and Jill (Jeffrey) Stamm and six grandchildren: Julie, Hunter, Taylor, Anne, J.P. & Morgan. He will also be fondly remembered by Evelyn's sons Kerry & Michael Voth, and Kerry's three children, David, Ashley & Brittany.

Al was born and raised in Los Angeles, and upon graduation from high school he was drafted into major league baseball and the Army. Following his time in the service and a short baseball career, he married, and moved to San Jose and enjoyed a 22 year career as a California Highway Patrolman.

In 1998 Al & Marilu retired to Palm Desert, where he continued his love of golf, cooking, entertaining and traveling.

Al was a great and generous friend to so many people. He was a mountain of a man with a heart and soul to match. Al was a really good guy.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Palm Desert, CA.
