John Joseph Cashman Jr.

Cashman, John Joseph,
Jr., passed away on January 19, 2008 from cancer just short of his 64th
birthday.
Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late John and Mildred Cashman and predeceased
by his sister, Rosemary. He was a product of St. Joseph's Prep and St.
Joseph's College.
From 1964-1966, he was a pitcher for the Washington Senators before a
shoulder injury ended his career.
He entered the corporate world with the 3M Company in sales and progressed
into management. Later, he made his career in the home- builder's market,
first as Vice President with Leigh Products and culminating as President
and CEO of Ridgeline Corporation.
Most recently, he was the Bar and Restaurant Manager at Plantation Preserve
Golf Course and Club.
In the 1980s, John was an avid coach and instructor of football and baseball
within the Plantation Athletic League. In the 1990s, he served 6 years
as President of the Junior Golf Association of Broward County and also
enjoyed assisting high school golfers acquire college scholarships.
John is survived by his wife, Carolyn of 41 years and together they had
3 children and 3 grand- children, son, Christopher, wife Christine, grandchildren,
Chelsea and Conner; son, John, III, wife Natalie and grandchild, Meagan;
daughter, Colleen and husband David McSween.
John will forever be remembered for his passion of sports, having a servant's
heart and a big personality that will be missed by many.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00
PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
Wednesday, 10:00 AM at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church. Interment
will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
A reception will follow at Plantation Preserve Golf Course at 12:45 PM.
