Born on June 24, 1928, in Los Angeles, Calif. Passed away on December
15, 2010 in Roseville, Calif.
Devoted husband of Karen for 53 years. Loving father of Gayle Turnage
(Robert), James Capps (Diane), and Jennifer Parkhurst.
Also surviving are grandchildren Michele Gasperetti (Bill), Christopher
Capps (Amie), Christina (Billy), Jessica, Daniel, Megan, Stevie and Kellie.
Bob also had four great-grandchildren, Landon, Aiden, Cory, and Chloe.
Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by mother
and father Jean and Glen Capps and sister Violet McClure.
Bob grew up in Los Angeles, Calif., and graduated from Manuel Arts High
School class of 1946. In 1947 he played baseball for the Anaheim Valencias,
the region's first professional championship baseball team.
He moved with his parents to Grass Valley in 1948 and continued his love
for baseball, playing in the Placer Nevada League. He was inducted into
the Placer Nevada League Hall of Fame. Bob proudly served in Japan during
the Korean War.
After the service he worked for PG&E and later moved to Sacramento
and went to work for SMUD. He retired from SMUD in 1990 after 38 years
of service.
In his retirement years Bob and Karen traveled the USA and loved spending
time with their family. Santa Cruz was his favorite place to take his
family including nieces and nephews. He loved the Santa Cruz Boardwalk.
For the past 12 years Bob and Karen were volunteer drivers for Seniors
First - Meals on Wheels in Roseville.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent in his memory to Seniors
First - Meals on Wheels, 11566 D Avenue, Auburn, CA 95603.
A graveside family service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at East Lawn Sierra Hills.
