Donald N. Cantrell,
88, passed away April 14, 2008.
Don was born in Los Banos, CA on October 19, 1919 to the late Fred and
Viola Cantrell. Don has lived in AZ since 1936.
He graduated from Casa Grande High School in 1937, attended U of A in
Tucson. He married his high school sweetheart, LaVerna Majors on April
12, 1941. Don went on to play pro baseball for 19 years.
After retiring from baseball, he went into the trucking business. He and
LaVerna, who preceded him in death, had three daughters, Gail Brazell,
Donna Cantrell, who preceded him in death and Deborah Brakebill.
After retiring, Don settled in at Roosevelt Lake where he enjoyed fishing
and hunting. He is survived by daughters Gail and husband Bob, Deborah
and husband Tom, grandchildren Dawn, Brad, Amanda and Daniel, five step-grandchildren
and 1 great granddaughter, Soleil. He also leaves behind a legion of well
treasured friends. Our lives will forever be changed by his absence.
A loving person, he welcomed everyone into his life with his warm outgoing
personality. He was truly a bright spot in all our lives and he will be
deply missed. A celebration of Don's life is pending.
