WORCESTER— Donald C. Butts, 75, of 207 Paxton Road, Spencer, and formerly of 5 Kay St., Worcester, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Rose Monahan Hospice. His wife of 55 years, Ann M. (Garrity) Butts, was at his side when he passed peacefully.

A devout family man, he leaves two sons: Paul D. Butts and his wife Maureen of Spencer, David A. Butts and his wife Amy of Worcester; four loving grandchildren: Matthew, Meaghan, Maura and Patrick; and a great-grandson, Jadon Kagaso. He also leaves two brothers: Allen Butts of Sturbridge and Richard Butts of Concord, N.H. He was predeceased by two sisters: Evelyn and Pauline.

Donald was a graduate of Commerce High School and a Veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army.

He also played professional baseball in the minor league system for the Cardinals and Giants.

He was a professional sales person for Coca-Cola, McKesson and Coastal Beverages.

Donald was an avid sports fan. He coached several local Little Leagues, Senior Babe Ruth and American Legion teams. He will be sincerely missed by all who knew his humor and friendship.

Calling hours at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, are Wednesday, December 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, December 6 from the funeral home with a Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Other arrangements are private.
