George A. Bucci, 88, Kutztown, formerly of Wayland, Mass., and most recently of Largo, Fla., died March 15, 2010, in the home of his son, Donald P. Bucci, with whom he resided.
He was the widower of Antonette M. (Lanza) Bucci, who died in 1987.

Born Feb. 2, 1922, in Belmont, Mass., he was a son of the late Donato and Incoronata (Maffei) Bucci.

He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Kutztown.

He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

He was a mechanical engineer for over 40 years, first at Raytheon Corp., Wayland, Mass., then for Kintec, St. Petersburg, Fla. He retired in 1982.

George was also a professional baseball player with the St. Petersburg Saints and the Tampa Bay Smokers. Mr. Bucci received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mass., and a master's degree from Northeastern University, Boston.

Survivors include sons, Donald P., husband of Nancy E. (Werme) Bucci, Kutztown, and John V., husband of Susan (Dillon) Bucci, Cincinnati, Ohio. There are six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, with the Rev. Monsignor Walter T. Scheaffer as celebrant. Inurnment in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster, Mass., will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Saturday, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.

The family requests contributions be made to St. Mary's Church, 14833 Kutztown Road, Kutztown, PA 19530. The Ludwick Funeral Homes Inc., Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements.
