Walter J. Brizes of Wickliffe and Euclid, died Feb. 18, 2010, at his home in Wickliffe.

He was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Scarbro, W.Va.

He was a member of Willoughby Eagle Aerie 2300 and Euclid Booster Organization. He was a radio operator for the U.S. Navy, an avid golfer and played for New York Yankees minor league farm teams and in softball leagues. He also coached little league teams.

Mr. Brizes worked as an electrician for Williams Electric and the city of Euclid from where he retired.

Survivors are his wife, Loretta "Tootsie" (Chornobay); daughters, Cynthia (George) Harrington, Marci (John) Dolnacko and Stacey (Peter) Thomas; grandchildren, Bailey, Andi and Brooks; stepchildren, Cheryl, Debbie and Kathy; stepgrandchildren, Aubrey, Lauren, Meghan, Justin and Candice; stepgreat-grandchild, Carter; nephew, Ricky Casalina.

His first wife, Charlotte (nee Hudec); and sister, Mary Casalina.

Funeral services will be noon Monday Feb. 22 at St. John Vianney Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor. Private interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
