Rich was born Feb. 22, 1970, in Lincoln to Richard and Lorinda (Howser) Bristow.
He attended elementary school in Atlanta, Ill., and graduated high school in Geneva, Ill. Upon graduation, Rich played professional baseball for five years with the New York Mets organization. Most recently, Rich was the general manager for Bill Smith Auto Parts in Danville.
Rich is survived by his girlfriend, Aida Aragon; his father, Rick Bristow; his stepmother, Bridget Bristow; his stepfather, Mark Franks; a brother, Dal (and Lindsey) Bristow of Naperville; step-siblings Lisa (and Alan) Martindale of Savoy, Marc (and Lorri) Elder of Downs, Alex Vance of Joliet and Erin Vance of Charleston; and 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorinda Franks; and his stepmother, Bettie Bristow.
Rich enjoyed the simple things in life but never missed a detail. He enjoyed fishing on the Gulf of Mexico, sunsets on Siesta Key, golfing with the guys, weekends at the lake, tailgating before every UI home football game, and hitting homeruns at Po Boys in Urbana. He lived life to the fullest surrounded by loving family and friends.
Rich was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed sorely by all who knew him.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Morgan Memorial Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jason Epperson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.
