"Brandy" - It is with great sadness that the family announces
the passing of John Robert Brandreth (Brandy) in his 84th year on Saturday,
November 12, 2011 at York Central Hospital.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Devine) of 60 years.
Brandy was predeceased by his father John William, his mother Katherine
Irene and his sister Barbara Meehan.
He was a loving father to five children: Michael (Barbara) of Mississauga,
ON, Pat Wiwcher (Warren) of Stouffville, ON, Dan (Barb) of Squamish, BC,
Casey (Wendy) of Rockwood, ON, and John (Kirsten) of Chilliwack, BC.
Brandy was a loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren, Kelly (Nat),
Darcie (Kevin), Erik, Kevin, Patrick, Dean, Sean, Makenzie, Greg, Jessica,
Devin and Ben, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Silas and Noelle.
Up until November of 2010, Brandy lived most of his life in Iroquois Falls,
Ontario. He will be fondly remembered by the Devine family and many other
relatives and friends. For the last year, Brandy and Jackie have been
residing in Aurora, Ontario.
Brandy was a natural athlete and his love of baseball led him to a professional
pitching contract with the Boston Braves Organization. An injury shortened
his career, which brought him back to Iroquois Falls, where he worked
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at the Thompson Funeral
Home, 530 Industrial Parkway South, Aurora, 905-727-5421, on Monday, November
21, 2011 at 12 noon with visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
Brandy was a cancer survivor for thirty-six years and the family requests
in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the Canadian Cancer
