William “Harold” Blaylock, 78, of Fort Smith died October 21, 2009 in Fort Smith. He was born March 29, 1931 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to the late Cecil and Fannie Little Blaylock. He was retired as Senior Vice President from Merchants National Bank where he worked for 41 years. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Downtown Sertoma Club, past Board Member of the American Red Cross, Board of Directors Chamber of Commerce and the Clearing House, past President of Western Arkansas Girls Softball Association and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Pops was a devoted Christian and loving family man to his wife of 57 years, his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed all sports with a special love for the Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals. If he was not watching sports you would have most likely found him on the golf course with his “Golfing Buddies”.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wanda of the home; two daughters Vicki Deason and Kim Davis both of Fort Smith; one brother, Bob Blaylock and wife Barbara of Tulsa, OK; one sister, Lois Jo Flanagan and husband O.C. of Muldrow, OK; three grandsons, Clay Mitchell, Jeremy Davis and wife Shannan, Joshua Davis and one great grandson Christian Mitchell.

Funeral service will be Friday, October 23, 2009 at 10:30 AM in the Wesley United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the U.S. National Cemetery all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Huey Clark, Jerry Eubanks, Miles Shopfner, Harley Strang, Jerry Treat and Joe Vann.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Downtown Sertoma Club and his “Golding Buddies”.

The family will greet friends at Edwards Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5-7 PM.
