Betenz, William "Bill"
Of Waukesha, died on Thurs., April 9, 2009, at Linden Grove Health and
Rehabilitation Center, at the age of 89.
Bill was born on April 14, 1919, in Palmyra, Wisconsin, the 8th of 10
children of Joseph and Mary Betenz.
Prior to World War II, Bill was a pitcher in the St. Louis Cardinals farm
system. During World War II he served in the 32nd (Red Arrow) Division
in the South Pacific.
Bill is the proud dad of Kathy Betenz of Milwaukee, Carol (Richard) Valley
of Columbus and Nancy Betenz of Hartland; grandpa of Brian (Jennifer)
Valley, and great-grandpa of Andrea. He is also survived by his two brothers,
Albert and August Betenz both of Palmyra; sister-in-law, Betty Betenz;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; his parents, sisters, Margaret,
Mary and Anne, and brothers, Joseph, Frank, Ludwig, and John.
Visitation for Bill will be Fri., April 17, from 4PM until the 7PM vigil
service at the Funeral Home. A second visitation will be Sat., April 18,
from 9AM to 10AM, at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, W280 N2101
Prospect Ave., Pewaukee, WI. The Reverend Joseph Hornacek will be officiating.
A committal service with military honors will take place at Prairie Home
Cemetery, Waukesha immediately following the mass.
Memorials in Bill's name may be directed to the charity of the donor's
choice.
