Arch E. Beach,
88, of Holts Summit, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at St. Mary's Health
Center. He was born October 18, 1920, in Richland, Kansas, the son of
Arch E. and Esther Parker Beach.
He was raised in the St. Joseph, Missouri area and was a graduate of Northwest
Missouri State University with a B.S. in Education.
He earned his Master's Degree in Administration from Central Missouri
State University. On September 25, 1942, Arch was united in marriage to
Virginia Garrett, who survives at the home. They shared almost 67 years
together.
Arch played professional baseball with the St. Louis Browns organization
prior to entering the United States Army during World War II, serving
in the European Theater.
He was a retired educator, serving as a high school football, basketball,
baseball and track coach, principal, and superintendent in various towns
across northwest Missouri.
Arch also was a high school sports referee for many years, and worked
for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as Area
Supervisor and Director of Title One Programs.
Interment with full military honors will follow in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
