Baum, William H. Age
91 of Homewood, IL, died Sunday, May 29, 2011 in Masonicare Health Center
in Wallingford, CT.
Mr. Baum was born in Brooklyn, NY, November 10, 1919 to the late Lucy
Harrington Baum and the late Alwin E. Baum and had lived in Homewood since
1960 until he moved to Wallingford, CT two years ago.
He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in both the European
and Pacific theaters. He retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad
in 1981. William was a founding member of St. Andrews United Methodist
Church in Homewood.
He was a lifelong baseball fan and had an early career as a baseball umpire
in the New York Kitty League.
William was predeceased, in addition to his father, mother and brother
(Alwin), his beloved wife of 51 years, Mable Ruth Baum, who died in 2001.
Survivors include a son, Ronnie S. Baum (Teresa) of Piedmont, CA; a daughter,
Christina D. Baum of Wallingford, CT; and three grandchildren: Taylor
H. Baum, Madeline G. Baum and William H. Baum.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside memorial service on Saturday,
July 2, at 11:00am at Homewood Memorial Gardens.
