Ray
Bauer, 93, of Clovis, New Mexico, died Friday, September 17, 2010, at Plains Regional
Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1917, in Portland Oregon to Adam and Karrie
Shafer Bauer.
He moved to Clovis to play professional baseball with the
Pioneers and was known as "Power Bauer". He was drafted by the Reds
straight from high school and was sent to Clovis to play minor league. He never
moved on up because he was drafted by the U. S. Army and served during World War
II. He married Dorothy Dale April 22, 1951, in Clovis. He owned and operated Bauer
Auto Supply in Clovis. He was a member of the V. F. W. and loved to play golf.
He
is survived by 2 sons, Scott Bauer of Henderson, Texas and Jim Dobbs of Albuquerque,
New Mexico; 6 grandchildren, Vernon Dobbs (Felicia) of Clovis, Charles Dobbs (Stephanie)
of San Angelo, Texas, John Scott Bauer, Rachel Sparks, Monica Garcia, and Shaina
Breedlove all of Texas and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death
by his wife; his parents; 1 son, Dick Dobbs; 1 sister, and 1 brother.
A
memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at Living
Stones Community Church of the Nazarene in Clovis with Pastor Darwin Speicher
officiating.
The family has chosen cremation with no viewing.
