Robert Bareford

PORT NECHES - Robert "Bob" Bareford, 83, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Wednesday April 1, 2009 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur.

He was born April 21, 1925 in Springfield, Missouri. He has been a resident of the area since he was 18 years old. Bob owned and operated Bareford Metals in Port Arthur until he retired.

He played professional baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers Farm Club and the Port Arthur Seahawks. He was a very active golfer and was a former golf pro for Port Arthur Country Club. He served in the U. S. Army as a sniper during WWII.

Visitation will be on Monday April 6, 2009 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday April 7, 2009 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.

Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and three brothers, his wife Betty Bareford and his daughter Becky Bareford- Gay.

He is survived by his son-in-law Ted Gay of Port Neches and Ted's parents Don and Shirley Gay of Port Neches.
