BARBER, JACK CHRIS
Feb. 13, 1925 - June 25, 2008.
Beloved and compassionate
father. Funeral services are 12:30PM, Monday, July 21, 2008 at Florida
National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with full military honors by the United
States Marine Corps Honors Team.
Jack was a native of Martins Ferry, OH; graduated from Union High School
in New Castle, PA, and he was a veteran of World War II and during his
military career, he was awarded a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal and
a European African Middle Eastern Medal and after being honorable discharged,
he married Theodora Ballas from Tewksbury, MA. Jack was a member of the
Greek Orthodox faith and they were married on December 3, 1948 in Lowell,
MA.
He was a pitcher for a Boston Braves Farm Club in Owensboro, KY "Kitty
League Team". Jack also pitched with the Union Civics in the North
County League.
He and his wife were the owners of Cricket Dress Mfg. Company in Nashua,
NH. He moved to New Castle, PA in 1968 and to Coca Beach, FL in 1974 and
then to Sanford, FL in 1991.
He loved nature, gardening, fishing, hunting and was a great cook.
Jack is survived by Norman Barber of Dawson, GA and Kenneth Barber of
Sanford, FL; daughter, Victoria Barber of Sanford, FL; grandson, Kenneth
Christopher Barber of Sanford, FL; three brothers, Richard Barber of Lowell,
MA, William Barber and Robert Barber, both of New Castle, PA, and a sister,
