Barbella, 82, died Sept. 28, 2011, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center
& Heart Institute. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Fort
Pierce for 32 years, coming from East Hartford, Conn.
Before retiring, he was a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers organization
and general manager for a home food service corporation. He served in
the Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Barbella; son, Steven Barbella of Fort
Pierce; daughters, Deborah Barbella of Tamarac and Victoria Barbella of
Fairfield, Conn.; brother, Joe Barbella of Pembroke Pines; sister, Theresa
of Nokomis; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds
Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
