James Harold Babcock,
84, of Apex died peacefully at home on Friday, February 26, 2010.
Mr. Babcock was born in Kenmore, NY to Harold Babcock and Rachel Sharpe
Babcock on May 8, 1925. Mr. Babcock served his country as a Sergeant in
the US Army during WWII from 1943 until 1945. He was a professional baseball
player for the farm system of the Brooklyn Dodgers for 8 years.
Mr. Babcock is survived by his children, Susan B. Marrow and husband,
Rodney of Greensboro, James R. Babcock of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Jeffrey
C. Babcock and wife, Holly of Apex; his grandchildren: Melissa B. Moore
and husband, Dave, Christine E. Babcock, Dianne B. Rountree and husband,
Adam, Christopher Babcock, and David Babcock. He is also survived by his
sister, Ann Saxton of Kenmore, NY.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life with Military Honors
will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Apex United Methodist
Church, 100 S. Hughes St., Apex, NC 27502.
