Frederick J. Alworth, age 69, of Rockaway Township, N.J., passed away on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Mass is in St Raphael's Church, 346 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, N.J., at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Bloomfield, N.J.

The family will receive their friends (today) Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Born in Montclair, N.J., Mr. Alworth previously lived in Glen Ridge and Livingston, N.J. He was a sales manager for Kimberly Clark for 30 years before his retirement in 1998.

He graduated from Glen Ridge High School and in 2007 was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He later attended Villanova University.

Mr. Alworth was a pitcher in the Milwaukee Braves organization from 1961 to 1964 and an avid golfer. He was known to many as "Coach Alworth" after many years of coaching in youth athletic programs in Livingston, N.J.

Surviving are his loving companion of 18 years, Jane M. Costine, and his children, Frederick W. Alworth, James R. Alworth, Jill DePaola and their mother, Nancy Alworth; dear brother of Elaine Barone; loving grandfather of six grandchildren.
