Marvin Edward Alexander,
87, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2013, peacefully in his sleep.
Marvin was born in Dallas, TX on March 2, 1925 to Mr. & Mrs. Charles
G. Alexander. He joined the Marine Corps in 1943 at the age of 17 &
landed at Bougainville & Okinawa during World War II.
After returning home, he pitched for the Chicago Cubs organization until
a knee injury ended his baseball career.
He was employed by Texaco for 36 years & retired in Houston. He resumed
working at Neiman Marcus & then at Westside Lexus. He was an active
member of Tallowood Baptist Church.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, sister Lucille & brother
Malcolm. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Ellen, daughters
Marilyn & Adrien, son Bradley & grandchildren Jennifer, Sidney,
Marcella & Rex.
A memorial service will be at the Tallowood Baptist Church Chapel on Jan.
9 at 11am.
Visitation will be on Jan. 15 at 9am at American Heritage Funeral Home
with interment to follow at Houston National Cemetary.
