ADERHOLT,
James L., passed away on February 17, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the son of C. Melville and Minnie Sullivan Aderholt.
Born in Hopewell on May 24, 1934, he resided in this area all of his life
and was a retired institutional chauffeur at Central State Hospital/Southside
Virginia Training Center, where he also formerly worked in their Building
and Grounds and Fire Departments. James proudly served in the U.S. Marine
Corps. Other than his family, the love of his life was the game of baseball.
As a young man, he played some minor league baseball and was well known
at every ballpark in this surrounding area. Professional baseball scouts
called upon him for his expertise and advice concerning prospects for
college and professional baseball.
Survivors include his wife of almost 53 years, Phyllis Leimberger Aderholt;
sons, Howard M. Aderholt and his wife, Sandy, James Michael Aderholt;
daughters, Linda S. Riddle and her husband, Rick, Phyllis Lane Minix and
her husband, Kenny; grandsons, Michael Scott Aderholt, Steven C. Riddle;
and his granddaughter, Kristin D. Riddle; great-granddaughter, Megan Aderholt;
sister, Billie and her husband, Walter L. Nelms; and several beloved nieces
and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted in Appomattox Cemetery at 10 a.m.
on Monday, February 21, 2011. The family is being served by the Hopewell
Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. |
