"Red" Adam, 78, of Cumru Township, died May 21, 2013, in his
home. He was the husband of Marion L. (Hainley) Adam. They were married
July 8, 1991.
Mr. Adam was first employed 15 years in the returned goods department by Glidden Paints, Reading, then by Carpenter Technology Corporation, Reading, for 19 years, until his retirement in 2000. He was most recently employed by Rich Maiden Golf Course, Fleetwood.
Red was a 1952 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, where he played baseball and basketball. He was a member of the State Championship Basketball team, 1951-1952.
he played minor league baseball as a pitcher for the Vidalia Indians,
part of the Cleveland Indians farm system. In 2008 he was inducted into
both the Kutztown Area High School Athletic Hall of Fame and the Lehigh
Valley Golf Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife, Marion; his son, Bruce D. Adam, companion of Lisa J. Geiger, Fleetwood; his daughter, Carol B. Adam, Medford, Oregon; his brother, Barry L., husband of Shirley A. (Turner) Adam, Wernersville; and three grandchildren, Madeline, Jordan and Christian.
A calling period will be held Tueday, May 28, 2013, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown. There will be no formal service. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
