Mr. Charles "Cutt" R. Cozart, 85, of Freedom Lane, Hudson, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Caldwell County Hospice.

Mr. Cozart was born in Caldwell County to the late Charles L. Cozart and Janie Mitchell "Mammy" Cozart Clark. He had a career in professional and semi-professional baseball as a pitcher. He was formerly with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Braves. He also retired from Forest City Tool in Hickory and retired from the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department. He was inducted into the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Cozart and Luther Cozart; his twin sister, Regina "Jean" Lefevers, and another sister, Mozell "Sis" Williams; and a granddaughter, Shanna Wheeler.

Survivors include his wife Willa Bean Cozart, of the home; three daughters, Lisa C. Greene, of Lenoir, Rendy C. Wheeler, of Hildebran, and Freda P. Hardin, of Gastonia; one brother, Thomas "Snook" Clark, of Granite Falls; four grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Myron Davis, Rev. Bert Dixon and Rev. Tom McDonald at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Concord Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at his church.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
